Andres Goyanes served as the 2022-2023 District Governor for Rotary District 6980 in Central Florida—and was the Founding President of the Rotary Club of International Drive in Orlando
Since 2009, Andres has enjoyed a rewarding community leadership and volunteer service “career” as an active member of Rotary, In 2011, Andres founded the Rotary Club of International Drive in Orlando, and after serving two consecutive terms he went on to serve as Assistant Governor for three years (2017-2020), then Governor’s Aide for PDG Cindi Cioci (2019-2020), and as Chief of Staff for District Governor Mike Vernon (2020-2021), who bestowed on him the Governor’s Distinguished Service Award.
In 2017, Andres was selected as Rotary’s Emerging Leader in Central Florida under then District Governor Ron Janssen (2018-2019), and was also named Rotarian of the Year in 2019-2020 by District Governor Cindi Cioci. Throughout his tenure in Rotary, Andres has made connections with fellow professionals across the globe, participating in many service projects—including supporting the creation of an elementary school in Machachi, Ecuador by the the Rotary Club Quito Valle Interoceanico and Children of the Andes Foundation.
However, Andres’ most noteworthy accomplishment as a Rotarian was his election to the role of District Governor during the 2022-2023 Rotary year—serving with Past Rotary International President Jennifer Jones. In this role, Andres applied his unique blend of transformational and servant leadership to lead nearly 1,700 Rotarians belonging to 45 Rotary Clubs in Rotary District 6980, covering the Central Florida region
Currently, Andres serves as the Director of the Rotary Leadership Institute for Rotary District 6980 and also as an Assistant Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Rotary Zone 34, which covers the states of Florida and Georgia, along with The Bahamas and the Caribbean—a role where he works to promote the good The Rotary Foundation does by funding global grants around the world.
In addition to his Rotary Leadership roles, Andres is a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the PHF Society, and a Bequest Society Member. He is also a strong supporter of ShelterBox—Rotary’s Global Project Partner for disaster relief— serving as a ShelterBox Ambassador since 2015. Always willing to fulfill his contribution in alignment with Rotary’s Avenues of Service, Andres contributes with his Vocational Service as webmaster for the RotaryCentralFlorida.org, the District’s public-facing community information website which communicates Rotary’s contribution to the Central Florida area.
Andres is married to Verónica, who is also a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of International Drive, where both are active in service projects including The Dictionary Project and volunteering at The Salvation Army in Orlando, Florida with their fellow Rotarians.
