World Travel

My chronic wanderlust has led to a passion for globetrotting, complemented by my multilingual skills. The excitement and exhilaration of landing in a new country and discovering new sounds, smells, tastes, and accents is the best reward for someone who loves to explore the wondrous diversity of the world.

World Travel Experience

Working and collaborating with people of different cultures is the ultimate high, allowing you to learn from the interaction and experiences of others

Traveling is life. That is the simplest way to describe the feeling I get when I board an airplane and travel for any number of hours—then land in a new place, where people are unique and speak a different language. That feeling truly makes me feel alive.

While it does help that I can speak a few languages fluently (plus a few more with conversational proficiency), I have traveled to countries with unfamiliar environments that would strike fear in many people. Still, I always lean forward when I approach the unknown—and this is perhaps what explains my tolerance for new experiences.

Among the most memorable travel experiences I have had include:

  • Eating corn tortas with a family inside their hut in the Andes mountains of Ecuador
  • Walking the streets of Rome, Italy, for an entire day (no, I wasn’t lost)
  • Climbing the Cotopaxi Volcano in Ecuador—two years before it became active
  • Watching a full moon above the Acropolis in Athens, Greece
  • Climbing Mt. Pilatus on a cable car in Lucerne, Switzerland
  • Looking down to Rio de Janeiro from the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil
  • Traveling throughout Ukraine in 2003, long before the war started
  • Visiting multiple vineyards and wineries in Spain’s wine region of La Rioja
  • Enjoying the nightlife of Paris, Rome, and Athens
  • Walking across the Avenida 9 de Julio in Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Viewing the Niagara Falls in the US from the Canadian side of the falls
  • Drinking a cold mango daiquiri in St. Marteens overlooking the sea
  • Enjoying a pint with locals at a traditional pub in London and Oxford, England
  • Watching a mongoose catch an iguana at Magens Beach in St. Thomas
  • Standing over the equatorial line over two hemispheres at Mitad del Mundo, Ecuador.
  • Seeing the Concorde on the tarmac at Charles de Gaulle airport in France—a few hours before it crashed

Traveling is also not for everyone. I often stress to friends and colleagues that if they want to travel and enjoy it, they must first have an open mind. From the customer service demeanor to tipping (or not to tip), one must become aware of the customs and cultural norms while accepting them when traveling abroad.
