Starting my MBA in Sustainable Business and Green Development

Andres Goyanes has started studying his Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Sustainable Business and Green Development from Marylhurst University.

Green MBA from Marylhurst University

The Green MBA from Marylhurst University prepares students for a sustainable future.

As the new year begins, I am finally beginning my journey as an MBA candidate, which has been a bucket list item for more than a decade. Following my graduation from the University of Central Florida, where I earned my Bachelors in Marketing, I focused on developing a strong professional profile without giving the idea of going back to school much thought.  However, after launching my own business in 2008 and taking control of my schedule, it wasn’t long until I finally revisited the idea of earning my MBA.

Now that I am in my second week in the distance learning MBA program from Marylhurst University, I am realizing of the need to be even more organized than before since the online format demands as much time, if not more, than my undergraduate studies at UCF. Case in point, this time around there are no beer parties, no pizza runs and no libraries where I can be told to “keep it quiet”. This time, the burden is on me to prove that I can do it despite a hectic life. And to be perfectly honest, I am loving every single day as I connect to my professor, classmates and the intense accelerated curriculum.

If you are considering an online-based program, be sure to take a look at Marylhurst University’s MBA and explore the opportunity that this amazing academic institution has to offer. That said, you can learn more about the Green MBA I am pursuing at http://www.marylhurst.edu/greenmba/.

New Year, New Website and a Blog

The year is 2011 and I am relaunching my online presence with a new and improved website based on the WordPress blog development platform. That said, it will be a busy year for me since I am also starting my MBA (a lifelong dream that had been set a side for a lot longer than I expected) and I’m getting married to the love of my life.

New Year, New Blog for 2011

On top of going back to school, my business endeavors continue to grow and as I develop new strategies for new and exciting clients I will also be spending time developing some of my own. Make sure to check out Dream Factory Productions and Fuego Communications‘ websites.

Some of my personal goals for 2011 include pursuing more speaking engagements at local organizations and chambers of commerce throughout Central Florida, as well as reading more books and blog a lot more–hence the new blog website that I’ve created to kick-off the New Year.

I am also hoping to travel more and get reconnected with nature and the great outdoors (I’m planning on buying a mountain bike). As I continued to study for my MBA with a concentration in Sustainability and Green Development, I owe it to myself to do some “field testing” of what the environment has to offer us and enjoy it.

This year I will also be launching some small but meaningful web initiatives, among them MarketingLeadership.org, which is going to be a repository of marketing knowledge with the intent of helping others learn about my field of work. The rest, well… I’ll share those as I go along. It’s a new year and a new blog–let the writing begin.
